Tuscan settee from the Direttorio period (circa 1795), crafted in cherry wood and originating from Cortona. A typical model of its time, with a backrest divided into three sections framed by neoclassical panels, gently curved armrests, slender sabre-shaped legs, and a seat composed of three frames woven in scarda—the traditional Trasimeno lake straw, once common and now almost impossible to find. Fully original and carefully restored, it preserves an authentic patina, slowly formed by layers of wax, candle smoke, and the warmth of old fireplaces.
Ideal for a country house, for an entrance where one can set down a bag while taking off a coat, or as a short waiting seat in a passageway. It carries that quiet rural elegance that gives character without excess, yet it can sit comfortably even in a more refined apartment—perhaps completed with three custom-made cushions, from a soft hemp-colored velvet to a more vibrant fabric with bold tones and neoclassical motifs that echo its original spirit.
