Early 18th-century antique door, originally from a rural farmhouse in the Umbrian-Tuscan countryside.
Crafted from soft poplar wood — locally known as albanello — it preserves the raw, honest simplicity of rural craftsmanship: that quiet harmony between necessity and beauty, born without intention.
The front side, painted in a soothing pale blue worn by time, is built with simple framed panels, its rails and stiles proportioned with rustic precision.
The hand-forged ironwork and an old handmade latch still bear the mark of repeated gestures — the opening and closing that once measured the rhythm of everyday life in country homes.
The back, more essential, reveals the piece’s true spirit: vertical planks enriched by a patina where dust, moisture and pigment have blended into a natural palette of blues, greys and lime — shades that only time can create.
It’s a door that doesn’t pretend: solid and robust, it proudly shows the scars and the quiet beauty of its long history.
An authentic fragment of rural architecture that can live again — restored with the same care as a newly built door — in refined interiors, where it becomes more than architecture: a presence. It adds depth, memory and contrast — a way to bring into the home the calm and strength of the countryside, an essential charm made of honest imperfections, lived-in colour and ancient matter — without frills, but with truth and style.
