18th-century single-leaf door, the powder blue of the Umbrian countryside

Early 18th-century antique door, originally from a farmhouse in the Umbrian countryside.
Made of soft poplar wood, it preserves the genuine and straightforward spirit of rural architecture — built to last, rather than to please.

The front side, painted in a powder blue, bears the marks of a long and laborious life. The colour, vivid yet softened by time, seems to have blended with light and seasons: a frank, weathered hue that still holds its energy, like a wall that has breathed wind and sun for centuries. The simple framed panels and hand-forged ironwork maintain the perfect balance between strength and modesty — that quiet elegance which only use can create.

The reverse reveals the other side of rural life: rough vertical boards, whitened by lime and by the hands that touched them for generations, marked by moisture and time yet still firm, alive, full of substance.

It is a door that contains two worlds — work and rest, inside and open air — with a tranquil and honest solidity. Restored with respect, it can live again in refined or rustic-contemporary settings, where its vivid blue and deep patina bring light, contrast, and memory.
An object of character, giving voice to time without ever imitating it.
