Late 18th-century armchair, between Val di Chiana and Lake Trasimeno

Tuscan armchair, late 18th–early 19th century, in solid cherrywood.

Neoclassical in proportion, with a restrained line conceived more for composed sitting than for ergonomics: sturdy armrests, slightly tapered legs, an upright back with fan-shaped slats, and a seat that is broad and comfortable.

Born between the Val di Chiana and Lake Trasimeno, in a land of cultivated towns within a rural landscape: not a grand salon chair, but a practical, composed seat for everyday use at a writing table (the height of the armrests allows you to draw close to the surface with ease).

Authentic and well restored: structure consolidated, lightly cleaned and hand-polished with shellac and wax; the seat newly reupholstered with traditional hemp webbing and hand-stitched horsehair.

With a warm blond patina, gently veiled by the traces of time.

Sturdy, comfortable and compact, it is ready for use: perfect at a desk, beside the fireplace, or in the light of a window as a chair for reading or repose.
