17th-Century Turned-Leg Table – Bologna Area
A rare 17th-century piece from Emilia, entirely crafted in solid walnut and finished on all sides, allowing it to be used as a freestanding table.
Its design is essential and austere, yet the elegant proportions reveal the original quality of the piece. The central drawer, set into the apron, confirms its original domestic use as a small writing table, side table, or work table.
Its most distinctive feature is the presence of turned legs with the typical “rocchetto” (spool-shaped) motif, a hallmark of 17th-century furniture production from the Bologna area—robust, refined, and joined at the base by square stretchers that ensure structural stability.
Perfectly preserved, it has been restored with a conservative approach, retaining its authentic patina and aged character, which tell the story of its long life.
A piece of austere charm, capable of creating striking contrast within contemporary interiors, adding depth and character even to the most minimal settings.
